How to Drug Test?

Lab Testing Solutions (LTS) uses lab-based drug testing to provide accurate and reliable results. LTS partners with a network of accredited laboratories to perform drug tests on a variety of specimens, including urine, saliva, hair, and blood. LTS also offers a variety of drug testing panels, including 5-panel, 10-panel, and 12-panel tests.

LTS's lab-based drug testing process is as follows:
  1. The specimen is collected at a LTS collection site under the supervision of a trained collector.

  2. The specimen is then sealed and shipped to an accredited laboratory.

  3. The laboratory performs the drug test using a variety of methods, including immunoassay, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

  4. The laboratory reports the results of the drug test to LTS.

  5. LTS then reports the results to the customer.

LTS's lab-based drug testing process is designed to ensure that results are accurate and reliable. LTS's partner laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) or the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). LTS also uses a variety of quality control measures to ensure that results are accurate, including:

  • Splitting specimens and sending them to two different laboratories for testing.

  • Using blind specimens to test the accuracy of the laboratories.

  • Conducting regular audits of the laboratories.

LTS's lab-based drug testing services are used by a variety of individuals and organizations, including businesses, schools, and government agencies. LTS's lab-based drug testing services can be used for a variety of purposes, including pre-employment testing, random testing, and post-accident testing.

What is the turnaround time?

The amount of time it takes for drug test results to be available when sent to a lab can vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The type of drug test being performed (urine, hair, blood, etc.)

  • The volume of samples being processed by the lab

  • The lab's workload and staffing levels

  • The time of day the sample is received by the lab

  • The availability of shipping services

In general, however, most drug test results are available within 24-48 hours of being received by the lab. Some labs may be able to provide results more quickly, while others may take longer.

How does it work?

The drug testing process can be divided into four main stages:

Collection: A sample is collected from the individual being tested, typically urine.

Laboratory analysis: The sample is tested for the presence of drugs using a variety of methods, including immunoassay testing and GC-MS or LC-MS confirmation testing.

Medical review officer (MRO) review: The MRO reviews the laboratory results and any other relevant information to determine whether the individual has violated the terms of the drug testing program.

Results: The MRO notifies the individual and the organization that ordered the drug test of the results.

Why are results taking longer?

If any findings are detected, lab-based tests may experience a time extension of 5 more business days.

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) are two of the most common analytical techniques used in laboratories to identify and quantify compounds in a sample.

The general process for LC-MS and GC-MS analysis is as follows:

  1. Sample preparation

  2. Separation

  3. Ionization

  4. Detection

  5. Quantification

LC-MS and GC-MS are used in a variety of fields, including environmental science, food science, clinical chemistry, and forensics.

How do the background checks & driving records work?

Background checks involve collecting information about an individual's past to assess their suitability for a job, housing, or other opportunities. They can be conducted by the individual or organization themselves, or by professional background check companies.

Background checks typically take a few days to complete for consumers, and up to two weeks for employment purposes.Driving Records are the same day or instant.
